This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching part-time in the Massage Therapy department. This pool will remain open until June 2024 unless positions are no longer needed.
Supervision Received
The dean, in consultation with the department chair is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by the vice president. The dean confers with the department chair in decisions regarding instructor workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing levels.
Education: LMT license required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.
Experience: Massage Therapy occupational experience and a current Oregon Massage Therapy license. Teaching experience preferred.
Knowledge of: Extensive knowledge of Massage Therapy discipline; computer applications for communication and learning, including, but not limited to, word processing, networks, the Internet, spreadsheets, multi-media presentations; of curriculum development; of the contemporary community colleges mission, role in higher education, and diverse student body and its needs; of the role of accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act; of a variety of pedagogical methods, including lecture, group activity, discussion and individual instruction to accommodate a variety of learning styles.
Ability to: Communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues and students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds; work collaboratively as a member of an academic department; demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching in the subject area; participate in curriculum and program development; participate in the student advising program and college-wide efforts to improve student retention and success; demonstrate experience or potential for innovation and creativity in both the classroom and related educational duties, including the use of new technologies; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth. Pass a criminal background check.
Licenses: Current Oregon Massage Therapy (LMT) license. If required to drive on behalf of the college, must possess a valid Oregon Driver License and provide proof of an acceptable driving record

Manual dexterity and coordination are required for more than half of the daily work period (about 60%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires some mobility including the ability to move materials 5-25 pounds daily (massage tables & classroom furniture), and 25-60 pounds occasionally. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate.
